Questions You May Be Asking Yourself

Questions you may be asking yourself

1. What is the process to finding the right Solar PV System and Size?
All we ask for in the first stage is your Eircode. From there we can then determine what size system would fit on your roof and ensure the panels can be placed in an optimal area, receiving the most daylight. We then ask for your Kw hours to see what size system is actually suitable for your needs. We then do up a personalised guide design that gives you results on what your system would potentially look like and produce over the course of a year.

2. What is the warranty on Solar Panels?
It can vary depending on what panel is quoted. The usual is a 12 year product warranty and a 25-year linear performance warranty.

3. What is the maintenance on a solar PV system?
We only use high quality panels and equipment and for this reason the simple answer is: None

4. Do I need a hot water diverter?
We use a device called I-Boost. Which is a smart device that you would be mad not to install with your system! The simple reason being you can heat your water for free! In easy-to- understand terms: The Solar iBoost uses the surplus solar PV energy generated from your panels to heat the hot water in your water tank. It does this automatically thanks to the technology provided within the iBoost.

5. Do I need a battery?
Well as price of energy rises, the value of solar batteries will only increase. To understand a little more, your home will take first priority for the solar power. The electricity produced by the panels will directly feed the home’s main electrical panel and power everything in the home, from TVs and lights etc. Often, solar systems can produce more power than the home needs at that moment. Picture a beautiful bright day and your home isn’t using much electricity, but the panels are producing a lot of power. In these kinds of conditions, the output from the solar system can easily exceed the home’s demands. With a battery installed, instead of the energy your panels are producing going back to the grid, the extra electricity flows into the battery and charges it up. How quickly the battery charges depends on the amount of extra energy being produced, which itself depends on multiple factors like the size of the solar system and the current electricity demand in the home. To add to the benefits of installing a battery your SEAI Grant will cover €1200 towards your battery so it’s a no brainer in most circumstances.

6. What size systems are most common?
There are lots of different size systems out there. But to break it down in a way to get to grips with sizes.
6.5Kw = Large (17 Panels)
4.5Kw = Medium (12 Panels) – Most Common
3.0kw = Small (8 Panels)
You can have any number of panels, it would all depend on your Kw hours and what you would need as opposed to how many panels you could fit.

7. How much would I save?
It’s very hard to say what it would save each individual person as everyone’s energy consumption is different. On average a system will easily half your electricity bill. As the price of energy is rising its hard to say when exactly your system will have paid for itself.

8. How do I apply for the SEAI Grant?
It’s only a click away. Once you enter the SEAI portal enter your details and select GO SOLAR as your contractor. We then do all the rest for you. Hassle free.

9. Can I fit solar panels on my Garage roof?
Absolutely! You can have the entire system set up on your garage with all wiring and batteries stored neatly away. Once we have your Eircode we provisionally measure it all out for you. We will then send our electrician and roofer out to survey the roof space and internal area.

10. Do you offer finance?
